The President SHOULD Be Smarter Than You…You Idiot
Posted by Matt on October 14, 2008
With only three weeks til the election, I am confident that Barack Obama will win. However, I am sick and tired of pundits and voters talking about how it is bad that Barack Obama seems too intelligent, too educated, too professorial to be an appealing candidate. Are you kidding me? It’s the presidency of the United States of America, not public relations. The President should be the most exceptional person we can find. It is the most important job in this country and one of the most important jobs in the world. Why shouldn’t the president be smarter than us? Why are we holding the fact that Barack Obama went to Harvard Law School Against him? Um, I think that’s a good thing. I was watching one show recently that called Obama a “pointy-head.” I don’t care what shape his head is, as long as he is competent.
Sarah Palin is comparing herself to Joe Six Pack, Babara Boxed Wine, Charlie Coke Head, Oliver Obesity and whatever catchy puns she can think of to appeal to the middle class. But who wants Joe Six Pack running the country? Joe Six Pack is an idiot, that’s why Joe Six Pack is not in politics. Look at all the problems the countries faces domestically, abroad and environmentally. Do YOU want to handle it? No, you would probably rather let someone else handle it. That’s what the President is for. The President should be a person of exceptional abilities, who can deal with all the issues you don’t want to face. While you are allowed to live in your bubble of disillusion, that everything is great and dandy in America, while President does the dirty work.
In 2004, I heard people talk about George Bush’s likability. “Oh, he’s the kind of guy I can have a drink with.” So what? Why do you want your president to have a drink with you? Would you want the man who has to decide on foreign policy issues to be hanging around some dive bar with you drinking water-downed beer? Honestly, who really wants their president to be like them? People who run for president were probably smartie pants as children and they were probably picked on by Average Joe…and now you want to be friends with them? Listen Average Joe, you’re never going to be president. I think you made that choice a long time ago. Stop saying you want the President to be an average guy because you don’t like what you have become and you want to keep the belief that we can be anything we want. Would you rather keep the illusion that any average person can be president or hold on to your hopes and dreams that you can keep your retirement funds? Evolution (the thing that Sarah Palin doesn’t believe in) tells us that some people are born with better genes. Average Joe has average genes…the President should have way above average genes.
I don’t hear people saying they want their doctors to be like them. I sure as hell don’t want my doctor to be average, I want him to be best. I’ll take a Harvard educated doctor and a Harvard educated president. America fell for voting for an “Average Joe” president in 2000 and 2004 and we have all suffered because President Bush looks like a nice guy but is in fact an idiot. Let’s not criticize Barack Obama because he is too analytical or because he “thinks too much.” We should be so lucky to have a President that will think things through and not act on an impulse (e.g., send our troops into danger on a whim). Let’s vote for someone who is smarter than all of us. Intelligence 08!

I couldn’t agree more. We think alike. Thanks for your comments on my post on the same topic. I want the most intelligent person possible as President. Joe Six Pack as VP or President? Is our country so enamoured of mediocracy? Pathetic. We have had mediocracy for 8 years. Look where it got us. Obama has the intellect and sound judgment to lead us out of this morass.
